Hello! For our outdoor camping, hunting and survival review this first knife is from Taylor Brands Schrade line of knives.
The one thing that Taylor Brands always brings to their product offerings, is quality at a really affordable price point, they give you "way more" for your money, then most companies.

The SCHF17 fixed blade knife is just plain "awesome"! For many weeks we have tested this knife outside, and all of my team agrees.. this is one of the best outdoor fixed blade knives that we have tested!
When you hold and look at this knife, you can tell that it was made for rough use. The black coating on the blade does not flake off with use, and the black coating is still on the blade. The blade is foward set, like a Kukri knife, but instead of a drop point profile, the blade has a tanto point. Towards the hilt, there is a nice finger choil for close up fine detail work if needed.
We have chopped small dead trees into logs, batoned those into small wood pieces for campfires. We also have thrown this knife into tree stump with no issues to the tip of the knife or folding of the edge. The TPE handle is very comfortable in the hand. The jimping on the top of the blade while aggressive, provides a great gripping surface. There is also a cutout blood groove thru the top part of blade. The nice kydex sheath, can be put on your belt in both vertical and horozontal positions.
Although this review is maily of outdoors use, for self defense purposes, this knife would also perform very well.
We think Taylor Brands have really done a great job with this knife design and we also like how they keep the price point lower then other companies out there. If you need a nice fixed blade multi use knife for the long haul, we highly recommend this one! - Tom

For our outdoor camping, hunting and survival review this second knife is from Taylor Brands Old Timer line of knives.
The Old Timer 156OT Lil' Finger fixed blade knife has a 2.5 inch blade. It is very hard to find "any" fixed blade knife with a blade that small! For many weeks we have tested this knife outside and even inside, and this knife held up very well against all of our tests.
When you hold this knife, you will instantly know what we are refering to.. "great control". The derlin handle slabs are very comfortable and the finger choil towards the hilt of the knife makes it a "joy" to use. We actually made the begining shape of a wood spoon with very little effort because of the the wide finger choil. The blade is hollow ground with more of a spear point than a drop point a the tip.
We have batoned small wood pieces for campfires also we made "feather sticks" for our campfire with ease. We cut thru large pieces of rope with no issue to the blade. Again, cutting into wood is effortless and even cleaning out fish, this knife handled very well. The nice leather sheath keeps the knife secure and sometimes I even forget that I am wearing it on my belt! I also used this knife at work slicing thru cardboard and striping wire insulation. The other thing to think about, is that some states have really strict "open carry" knife laws, and while we always recommed checking your local laws, this blade made be short enough to open carry in your area. We are very happy with this knife and we had no issues at all.. just a really great small fixed blade knife. -Tom
Conclusion: We really appreciate Taylor Brands sending these two knives to us. We always recommend owning a larger fixed blade for bigger tasks an a smaller fixed blade for small tasks that require more control or fine close up work. Owning these two knives is a perfect combo for outdoor use (and even indoor). When we hold these knives, we see that Taylor Brands is always thinking of quality and function in their designs. They also seem to be aways coming out with new designs in regards to thier knives and with a really lower price point then many other manufactures out there, you really do not need to look elsewhere.
